HUMANITY'S SHAME
HURRICANE KATRINA

A BILLION dollars!

What does it say about us as a society? The thought that thousands of people could, simultaneously, get it into their head, that it would be a good idea to steal resources so desperately needed by victims of hurricane Katrina?
A BILLION dollars!
How many people does that translate to? How many people sat down and consciously made a decision to go out and take advantage of; the government, the taxpayers and the unfortunate victims of this terrible natural disaster?
A BILLION dollars!!!!

Is it possible that we have become such a heartless society that profiting off the misfortune of others is now an option for the masses.
Sure, we have always had a percentage of bent nails, bad apples, deviants. When did such outrageously criminal behavior become the norm?
A BILLION dollars!
What kind of person could look at a devastated family, clinging to the roof of their submerged home and think, 'gee, there's an opportunity for a quick buck'?
I am all for surprises, I just hope that society will stop surpising me with new evidence of just how low we have fallen.
